A project leader is required for the
innovation process. Project leadership focuses on doing "the
right things" while managers focus on doing "the things
right".

coordination and balance of project goals with organizational needs.
They enable and support the project and the project matter. They
assume a democratic approach.
Project manager’s focus is more
administrative in nature. Their goal is to ensure that the project is
completed on time and on budget. Organisational needs get priority.
